Introduction

As the name implies, a fine powder is forced through two counter rotating rolls which converts the raw material into solid compact flakes or sheets or strips. This process involves a high-end mechanical and automation system comprising of PLC, VFD, Touch panel PC and SCADA software.

Detail description

A roll compactor generally consists of three major units. First is a feeding system, which feeds the raw material to the compaction area between the rolls. Second is a compaction unit, where powder is compacted between two counter rotating rolls to a ribbon by applying a force. Third is a size reduction unit, for milling the ribbons to the desired particle size.

The most important parameter in the dry granulation process is the force applied on the powder compacted between two rolls. The applied force is expressed in kg/cm, being the force per cm roll width. Operator can set various parameters of process as a recipe in SCADA system and re-use them for all future processes. SCADA system also logs all the process data, alarms, and audit trials.

Relevant facts or Key benefits

LUOVA has designed and installed automation system along with SCADA software for highly reliable and efficient operation of machine.

Benefits: High accuracy and repeatability. With SCADA software, user can comply with all regulatory requirements of US FDA 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines. Software has various functions to control and monitor machine operation along with batch reporting, recipe, etc.

Automation system with touch panel PC and SCADA allows user to comply with all regulatory requirements and operate machine at very high accuracy.
