Introduction

RMG (Rapid Mixer Granulator) is a combination of high-end mechanical system with sophisticated automation to achieve required mixing of pharmaceutical ingredients. Impellers and chopper are key mechanical components responsible for wet granulation in the rapid mixer granulator. RMG machine comprises of high-end PLC and VFD systems along with IPC SCADA based operator panels.

Detail description

In Rapid mixer granulator, the granules are formed by raising, whirling, and tumbling motion of the material. Generally dry mixing is done in machine which is followed by wet mixing. Based on the material requirement, dry and wet mixing cycles are run for required amount of time. In dry mixing cycle, impeller and chopper run at high speed. After dry mixing, binder solution is added in the material. During addition of binder solution impeller and chopper run at slow speed. This forms wet mass. After this, impeller and chopper run at high speed to form granules of required size. Based on required ingredient quality and particle size, user can set timing of various cycles.

A high-end SCADA system allows users to set different timing of machine and save them as a recipe which can be reused in future. Dry and wet mixing cycles in RMG varies from 1 to n numbers based on process.
